Nice eye! ;)

I'm glad you picked up that post and not my earlier one! Love being more intimate on Path and sharing with a smaller trust network.

Stunningly simple. Why over-complicate when millions of MM fans have been salivating, waiting for just this one piece of information for over a year. Very DD.

Great idea. - Just based on a trust system. Return it when you're done. Bring I book you've read. Keep then on trams a little book shelf or something to give and take from...

Downloaded it a couple of weeks back but still have used it - find myself using Instagram more than any other social app at the moment though. It's so absorbing and yet so simple.

There is something more instantly meaningful for the viewer seeing photo updates rather than text based status updates where the meaning is what it is.

With photo sharing, you can see why the user probably liked it or felt they needed to share it, but as with any visual artform you get to have your own take on it.

Will have to get typeplace sharing now as well then...

I agree with your comment about not overdoing it. Gamification is definitely the hot trend right now and will become overused...in it's current state. The key to understand is that the game you implement today will not be the game you have implemented in the future. Staying on top of how your community is interacting with your game mechanic is crucial as it should be an iterative process that is driven by good analytics.

I think a leaderboard with accompanying badges for top renters would be cool. ..not sure how applicable it would be for the rentee though. It just feels like the people renting the items would benefit more from status in this game scenario.

Another game mechanic to look into is feedback scoring OR reputation score. I am not sure if this shows after you sign in, but there didn't seem to be a way to gauge how reliable a transaction would be. With eBay, my bidding is heavily dictated by the feedback score of the seller. Vice-versa, when I am selling I prefer bidders with positive feedback.

Using BigDoor's (http://bigdoor.com) API will allow rentoid.com to get up and running fast.
